I drew this character in pencil, and then I tried tracing over the scanned image with Photoshop's pencil tool; the lines didn't look very clean. I used vectors afterwards and got much better results. But I did use Photoshop for the shadows on the mage, and the gradient in the background which indicates the direction of the light is also a tool from Photoshop. I felt it necessary to draw a human and use a more realistic art style for a change; this was a great opportunity to do both at the same time.
